Gazette issued: Several functions moved under State Minister of Irrigation

COLOMBO (News 1st) - An Extraordinary Gazette notification has been issued moving several functions under the Ministry of Irrigation to the State Minister of Irrigation.

The gazette has been issued by the Minister of Irrigation Roshan Ranasinghe.

Accordingly, the State Minister has been empowered to carry out water drainage and flood control through the flood control schemes,
prevention of environmental pollution related to water sources such as rivers, streams and lakes and the power to implement the water disposal schemes.

In addition, the State Minister is required to assist the Minister of Irrigation in all development projects under the Ministry of Irrigation, according to the relevant gazette notification.
