COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs of India, Arindam Bagchi says that India is supportive of the IMF debt restructuring program, and pointed out that financing assurances from creditors to make Sri Lanka's debt sustainable would be required.

Speaking on Sri Lanka's debt restructuring during the weekly briefing, the Spokesperson said that the High Commissioner attended an 'Ambassador's Forum' which was held under the Chairmanship of the President of Sri Lanka, and relevant authorities attended the subsequent virtual meeting. 

He emphasized that India is in touch with all the major stakeholders, and Bagchi said that he believes that all creditors may need to work together on the issue.
