Vijitha Herath demands to publicize China-Sri Lanka FTA

COLOMBO (News 1st) - NPP Parliamentarian Vijitha Herath requested the Government to immediately submit a draft of the trade agreement between the Governments of China and Sri Lanka.

Speaking at the Parliament on Tuesday (4), Herath pointed out that the people still do not know the contents of the trade agreement, and in addition, Parliamentarians deserve the right to remain aware of the said FTA.

If the agreement is signed without knowing its contents, manufacturers could face much difficulty in manufacturing and exporting their contents.

Citing a statement made by Foreign Minister Ali Sabry at New York with regard to hastening the agreement, the NPP MP demanded whether it is being done so for the purpose of loan restructuring.
