Flags fly half-mast in memory of the Queen

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The National Flag of Sri Lanka and the flag of the United Kingdom were flown at half-mast as a mark of respect to Britain's Queen Elizabeth II, at the President's Office on Monday (19).

Monday was also declared as a National day of mourning, in addition to the Ministry of Public Administration announcing today as a special holiday for all government agencies.

The grand state funeral of late Queen Elizabeth II was held today, with the participation of over 500 heads of state and foreign leaders.

Following the State Funeral, the Coffin will travel in Procession from Westminster Abbey to Wellington Arch. From Wellington Arch, the Coffin will travel to Windsor, and once there, the State Hearse will travel in Procession to St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle via the Long Walk.

President Ranil Wickremesinghe also travelled to Westminster to attend the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II, and paid his respects on Sunday (18).

He was also in attendance at the funeral which was held today, amongst other world leaders.
