Rescued Lankan students will be cared for: Ukraine Embassy

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Expeditious steps will be taken with regard to the seven Sri Lankan students, who were rescued from 'torture chambers' where civilians were being held in Kharkiv region in Ukraine, the Embassy of Ukraine in New Delhi stated.

Responding to an inquiry by News 1st, the Embassy said that futher information regarding the students are being gathered.

News 1st made an inquiry from the Embassy after a briefing by the Ukrainian President Voldomyr Zelenskyy revealed that seven Sri Lankan students, who were attending Kupyansk Medical College, were discovered in a basement in the recaptured area. 

The students were being held in the area since last March, and were directed for medical attention, Ukrainian President Zelenskyy said.
