Four officers assaulted while on duty; two suspects arrested

COLOMBO (News 1st); Two suspects have been arrested for assaulting officers of the Puttalam Division's Narcotics Unit and obstructing their duties.

The arrest was carried out by the officers of Anamaduwa Police.

The officers of the Narcotics Unit, who inspected two people suspected of being in possession of drugs, had gone with the suspects for another round of inspection.

At that time, a group of people attacked the officials with sticks and weapons, Police said.

The four injured officers are currently receiving treatment at the Puttalam Hospital.
