ALL electricity consumers are equal: Energy Minister

COLOMBO (News 1st); Responding to a statement made by Dr. Omalpe Sobitha Thera during a protest by a group of monks, the Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera took to twitter to respond to the Thero.

Ven. Dr. Omalpe Sobitha Thero stated that the electricity bill has increased in an unbearable manner, and added that the bill will not be paid. 

Citing that the energy sector is attempting to cover the losses incurred by the corruption of politicians, the Thero said that they will not pay electricity bills, and initiated for a movement in response, refusing to pay the bill.

However, Mr. Kanchana Wijesekera Tweeted that Ven. Dr. Omalpe Sobitha Thero should also remember that he belongs to the same category of political figures, and that the same law will be applied to all those who do not pay the electricity bill, which will result in disconnection.
