COLOMBO (News 1st); MP Dullas  Alahapperuma, in a letter to the Prime Minister, says that 'hate politics' is being practiced when MPs participate in parliamentary committee proceedings.

MP Alahapperuma says that he has also been removed from the Parliamentary Steering Committee and Public Accounts Committee, where he functioned for a long period of time.

He further states that MPs who actively supported him as a candidate at the Presidential vote have not been appointed to the Parliamentary Steering Committee, the Public Accounts Committee as well as the Committee on Public Enterprises.

He says that among such victims of political persecution includes Prof. G.L. Peiris, Dilan Perera and Dr. Nalaka Godahewa.

Alahapperuma further states that Prof. Charita Herath, who was functioning as the Chairman of the Committee on Public Enterprises and Dr. Gunapala Ratnasekara, who was a member of the very same comittee, have also been removed from the COPE list.

The letter, which was directed to Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena, has also been forwarded to the President, as well as to seven other organizations including the Inter-Parliamentary Organization and the Commonwealth Parliamentary Union.
