Letters to Russia NOT accepted

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka Post announced that it will not be accepting airmail bound to Russia.

The Postmaster General Ranjith Ariyaratna said that the department has not been able to find an airline to be used to send mail to Russia, as no direct flights are operating between Sri Lanka and Russia.

The Postmaster General also said that it is unable to send letters to any transit country as there is a high possibility of the letters and packages being misplaced.

Sending letters to Russia has been stopped for over 3 months.
