Teenage boy drowns in Rideegama

COLOMBO (News 1st); A teenage boy had died after drowning in Ogodopola Mahayaya Canal in Rideegama.

Police stated that the student met with the tragedy while swimming with a group of children.

He died upon admission to the Goniagoda Hospital.

The deceased was identified as a 16-year-old resident of Polgolla.

Police say that this group of students were on their way back after visiting a school in the Gokarella area for a sports competition, when they subsequently drowned in the canal after attempting to go swimming.
