Concessions for increased tariffs, via interim budget

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa at Parliament on Friday (12) pointed out that increase in electricity tariffs has become unbearable for the public, with emphasis on low-income earners and various industries. 

Chief Opposition Whip Lakshman Kiriella reminded that an earlier proposal to grant concessions for low-income earners was proposed, and in response, the Leader of the House Dr. Susil Premajayanth stated that a debate on the increase in electricity tariffs is due to take place at the Parliament on 29th August.

Moreover, he stated that discussions are underway to grant necessary concessions to low-income earners and other vulnerable groups via the interim budget which is due to be debated at Parliament.
