COLOMBO (News 1st); Samagi Jana Balawegaya Parliamentarians on Tuesday (09) protested near the entrance of the Parliament against the currently imposed state of emergency and the Government's repressive measures.

Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa, at the protest, condemned the Government's efforts of repression and the 'witch hunt' against youth, including kidnapping incidents.

He demanded for the Government to stop arresting youth and to assist efforts to reimpose Democracy within the country.

SJB MP Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka too demanded for the Government to release all those who were arrested under the guide of the people's protests, and to stop such arrests in the future as well.

"Give the people of the country the human rights they deserve. Let them have the freedom of speech. The government should realistically show it a precedent, however acts in a completely hypocritical manner," he said.
