Soldier released on bail for violating court, handed over to Military Police

COLOMBO (News 1st); Amal Salinda. a soldier who appeared in the court again today (8) under the charge of violating a court order during a protest on May 28th, was released on bail of Rs.500,000. 

Amal Salinda who was an activist of the Aragalaya was arrested on the July 5th was handed over to the custody of the military police after being produced in court. 

The suspect was handed over to the custody of the military police under the charges of not reporting for duty without prior notification. 

He was in military uniform when he was presented to court today. 

The Fort Police had informed the court that the suspect had entered an area which was restricted by the court and held a protest. 

Further the Fort police informed the court to issue a relevant order. 

The suspect was taken into custody of the military police after being released on bail.
