COLOMBO (News 1st); Dhaniz Ali, an activist affiliated with the Galle Face Peoples Protests; the 'Aragalaya' has been transferred to Welikada Prison for 14 days after pleading guilty for using a mobile phone while in remand custody.
Prison Commissioner Chandana Ekanayake stated that the suspect was produced before the Prison Tribunal today was transferred for 14 days after he accepted the charge before the Colombo Additional District Judge.
Prisons Authorities are conducting an investigation into the discovery of a mobile phone in his possession, the Commissioner said.
The CID arrested the Aragalaya Activist while he was attempting to travel to Dubai on 26th July.
Social Media footage showed the infight arrest, and Police said he was connected to the incident where activists stormed into the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation recently.
