COLOMBO (News 1st); SJB MP Sarath Fonseka says that there is no purpose in initiating talks for an all-party Government now.

Speaking to media, the MP said that he expected for the President to curtail his powers, appoint a strong Prime Minister and to bring back the 19th Amendment as a step in the right direction.

However, the MP said that there is no sign that the President is moving towards the establishment of an all-party Government, therefore a new power must emerge, after which it should align itself with the Constitution.

There is no possibility of holding an election as well, the MP said.

Commenting on mass protests due to take place on 9th August, the MP said that he is ready to join forces with the people and give them leadership if needed.

He also pointed out that protestors do not contain the mere crowd at Galle Face, but also includes Sri Lankans all over the country. Therefore, the 'Aragalaya' cannot be curbed just because 2,000 or 3,000 protestors were imprisoned, he added.
