COLOMBO (News 1st); The All Ceylon Private Bus Owners Association says that if fuel will be available tomorrow, the daily bus service can be increased to 50% from the next day.

The Chairman of the association, Gemunu Wijeratne said that most buses expect to receive fuel today in view of the arrival of shipments into Sri Lanka.

However, he said that public transport might return to normalcy on Tuesday, once buses are able to obtain fuel from SLTB depots and other filling stations.

Accordingly, around 6,000 buses will be in operation on Tuesday, if fuel is received, he added.

Meanwhile, the Ceylon Transport Board said that buses will function as normal today.

The General Manager of Railways, Dhammika Jayasundara mentioned that trains too will function according to the normal schedule.

However, the people still remain severely affected by the restrictions of public transport services.
