COLOMBO (News 1st); A Police Officer and a Sri Lanka Army Soldier have been injured during a crowd control attempt in Battaramulla on Wednesday (13).

The seriously injured Police Officer was attached to the Sri Lanka Police College, Kalutara and was admitted to hospital for treatment.

A Sri Lanka Army Soldier was also injured when he was assaulted during the crowd control attempt and was attached to the Wellawaya Military Camp, said Sri Lanka Police.

A complaint was filed with the Borella Police noting that during the assault on the soldier, his service weapon, a T-56 Assault Rifle and 2 magazines with 60 live rounds, was stolen.

The Welikada and Borella Police are conducting investigations to locate the missing weapon.
