COLOMBO (News 1st) - Several former ministers and political figures were summoned before Sri Lanka’s Illegal Assets Investigation Division today.
Police confirmed that former Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi appeared before the division and is currently providing a statement in connection with an investigation into her assets.
Meanwhile, former Minister Johnston Fernando has requested a different date to appear before investigators.
He had been summoned over an inquiry linked to the alleged provision of a vehicle on a rental basis to an individual identified as Sampath Manamperi.
In a parallel development, former Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Parliamentarian for the Puttalam District, Chinthaka Mayadunne, and former Nawalapitiya Mayor Amal Priyankara have also sought alternative dates to appear before the Illegal Assets Investigation Division.
Both are expected to provide statements inrelation to ongoing investigations into their asset declarations and financial dealings.
