President Rajapaksa confirms that he would step down today (13)

COLOMBO (News 1st); President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has informed Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena that he would step down as mentioned earlier, and would ensure that the letter of resignation is officially sent to the Speaker today (13).

The Speaker said the vote for the new President will take place on the 20th of July, and urged the people to remain calm.
