Doctors allowed to obtain fuel from Army bases

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Ministry of Public Security says that facilities will be made available for doctors to obtain fuel from the nearest army base.

Its Secretary, S. Hettiarachchi mentioned that the Army Commander also agreed to this move.

The decision was taken in view of the incidents occurring during the issuing of fuel to doctors from filling stations.

Meanwhile, the secretary said that it was decided to release fuel from the army camps for the lorries that transport essential food items and for vehicles that transport vegetables and fruits to the economic centers.

Accordingly, fuel will be released from military bases near economic centers such as Nuwara Eliya, Keppetipola, Dambulla, Tambuththegama and Meegoda.

The Secretary of the Ministry of Public Security added that steps have been taken to release fuel for private buses, ambulances and tourist buses through SLTB depots.
