NO Rice Shortage, assured Trade Ministry

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Ministry of Trade, Commerce, and Food Security says that there will be NO shortage of rice.

The Secretary to the Ministry of Trade, Commerce and Food Security S.T Kodikara said that 47,000 MT of rice was imported by the 25th of this month.

The Secretary further said that under the Indian Credit Line 25,000 MT of rice including Nadu, Samba and white rice was imported to the country during this month alone.

The Ministry of Trade, Commerce, and Food Security says that the distribution of rice has been disrupted due to the fuel crisis.
