Thousands stranded at ID Office due to Public Holiday

COLOMBO (News 1st); Thousands of people who came to the Department of Registration of Persons on Friday (24) were left helpless as essential services were disrupted Friday after the government declared Friday a holiday for Public Services.

Although people from rural areas waited outside the premises since last night, there was a notice posted around 8.30 AM saying that the service will not be available on Friday (24).

Many women who went to inquire about this were assaulted by the security forces, suggested reports.
