Chinese Amb. delivers Xi's special message to President

COLOMBO (News 1st); Chinese President Xi Jinping has sent a special message to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa. 

The message was delivered by the Chinese Ambassador.

The President's Media Division said Chinese Ambassador Qi Zhenhong had met President Gotabaya Rajapaksa on Thursday, 16th June.

During the meeting. the ambassador had delivered a special message from Chinese President Xi Jinping. 

He had briefed the President on the economic and humanitarian support that will be given by the Chinese government to Sri Lanka.

In a tweet, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa thanked the Chinese president for wishing him on his birthday today.

Thank you President Xi Jinping for the warm birthday wishes. Along with all of #lka I also want to thank #China for her continued friendship, particularly during these trying times. May the ties between our two nations grow from strength to strength. @ChinaEmbSL pic.twitter.com/NJ0aB7jGiY

He had also thanked China for the continued friendship with Sri Lanka during these trying times.

Former prime minister Mahinda Rajapaksa has also wished his brother for his birthday.

In a tweet, Mahinda Rajapaksa said he has "every assurance" that the President will help the country out of this crisis.
