COLOMBO (News 1st); The Kaduwala Acting Magistrate has ordered to remand seven suspects who were arrested during a clash at the Athurugiriya Filling Station on Friday (17), while two were granted bail.
The suspects were produced before Kaduwela Acting Magistrate Nadeeka Jayawardena today (18), after being arrested in connection with the unrest that broke out in Athurugiriya last night, when a group among those who were waiting in queue to pump fuel, broke into the filling station premises after it was informed that the filling station had run out of fuel.
Sri Lanka Police arrested nine people in connection to the unrest that broke out at the Athurugiriya filling station late on Friday (17), while six Police personnel were also hospitalized after the incident.
Police took measures to control the situation and during the altercation that broke out, and the Police Spokesperson later advised the public not to obstruct the duties of officers.
