COLOMBO (News 1st); Long queues for fuel in many parts of the country, led to protests opposite filling stations on Friday (17).

There were many filling stations in the country with fuel and without fuel, but people are still waiting in lines to purchase fuel.

People in queues protested against the decision to allocate a separate queue for essential service vehicles at a filling station in Nugegoda.

"They are going to sell fuel to vehicles of police officers. They are pumping fuel for 7000 rupees. Officers who should be maintaining law and order are doing this. If fuel is only to be sold for police officers, then allocate the filling station only for them. Prepare a fair system to sell fuel," lamented one person in the fuel queue.
