Nine key suspects involved in violent acts ordered to be arrested

COLOMBO (News 1st); A B report has been filed at Court against a group of suspects who were identified as having been involved in violent acts in front of the Fort Police Headquarters and the Isurupaya Education Ministry  on 9th and 10th June. 

The suspects named are;

Wasantha Mudalige

Lahiru Weerasekera

Rathindu Senaratne alias Ratta

Jagath Manuwarna

Dhammika Munasinghe

Rathkarawwe Jinaratana Thero

Eranga Gunasekara

Jehan Appuhamy

Galwewa Siridhamma Thero.

Out of these, Wasantha Mudalige has been identified as a suspect in connection with both the protests held on the 9th and 10th.

The Police said that the others were identified as suspects in connection with the protest that took place in front of the Police Headquarters on  9th June.

The Fort Magistrate has already ordered the arrest of these suspects and the case will be taken up again in the Kaduwela Magistrate's Court on 5th of July.

During the protests in the Fort and Thalangama police areas, it was observed that the suspects had committed a number of offenses such as obstructing the duties of police officers, inflicting criminal force, inflicting injuries and obstruction while being members of an illegal assembly which is an offense under the Penal Code.
