COLOMBO (News 1st); The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) Electrical engineers warn that the power outage could be further extended due to issues at the Norochcholai Power Plant.

"The Ceylon Electricity Board doesn't have money to import spare parts required for power plants," said Eng. Eranga Kudahewa, the Co-Representative of the CEB Engineers Union.

"We need about 640 million US dollars to import coal required by the Lakvijaya coal power plant to produce electricity after next year. We don't know how they will arrange the money. Therefore, we will have to rely completely on diesel power plants. Otherwise, the duration of power cuts will increase," he warned.
