COLOMBO (News 1st); Batticaloa District TNA MP Shanakiyan Rasamanickam in a letter to Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has called on the latter to check the veracity of his statements and issue a clarification.
Recently, MP Shanakiyan Rasamanickam & Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe exchanged comments on each other in Parliament.
The Prime Minister during the condolence debate for the late MP Amarakeerthi Athukorala reprimanded the comments made by TNA MP Shanakiyan Rajaputhiran Rasamanickam, who had said that houses of MPs were set on fire because votes were cast in favor of matters that are detrimental to the country.
The Premier said the MP must withdraw his comments and urged the Speaker to conduct an investigation into these comments.
However, speaking in Parliament later in the day, MP Shanakiyan Rajaputhiran Rasamanickam hit back at the Prime Minister requesting the latter refrain from making false comments to the house.
