COLOMBO (News 1st); It has been decided to limit the number of school holidays that are granted according to the annual school schedule, by the Ministry of Education.
The above decision was taken during a discussion held between education authorities and the trade unions, including the Minister of Education Susil Premajayantha.
Minister Premajayantha said that it has been decided hold school sessions so as not to interfere with the number of periods that should be covered annually.
Accordingly, relevant sectors have been instructed to give priority to education and conduct schooling, the Minister said.
Minister Susil Premajayantha also stated that delays in the arrival of students to schools should not be a hindrance to education due to issues related to uniforms.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Transport has agreed to deploy additional buses by the Ceylon Transport Board to transport school children in the face of the fuel crisis, the Minister of Education added.
He said that the Ministry has also focused on adding several trains to identified routes for the purpose.
