COLOMBO (News 1st); The Presidential Commission of Inquiry appointed to investigate and report on all loss of life and property, including arson, robbery and murder, which took place in several areas of the island between 31st March and 15th May, has decided to call for information from the parties affected by the incidents.
The Secretary of the Commission, Buwaneka Herath stated that steps will be taken to publish the relevant information in the next few days.
The Commission is Presided over by Supreme Court Judge B.P. Aluvihare, and the other members of the commission Former Senior DIG S.M.Wickramasinghe and Additional Chief Valuer N.A.S Wasantha Kumara
Meanwhile, a committee member said that the report of the committee appointed to look into negligence of duties on the part of the security forces during the recent riots is scheduled to be handed over on 20th June.
He said that so far, information has been obtained from a number of lower level officials about the activities of the security forces during the incidents, and statements will be obtained from the Commanders of the Armed Forces within the next few days.
The committee is chaired by Admiral of the Fleet Wasantha Karannagoda, and General Daya Ratnayake and Marshal of the Air Force Roshan Goonetileke are the other members of the said committee.
