Johnny appears before Magistrate, and leaves

COLOMBO (News 1st); Former Minister Johnston Fernando appeared before the Fort Magistrate on Thursday (9) evening, after Court of Appeal ordered him to surrender to the Magistrate's Court before 8 PM today.

It was reported that the Former Minister left the premises of the Fort Magistrate shortly after marking his appearance.

He was released on two personal bails of Rs. 10 Million each, and was prohibited from traveling overseas.

The Magistrate also ordered for the MP to report to the CID on a date given to him to provide a statement.

The Court of Appeal on Thursday (9) ordered former Minister Johnston Fernando to surrender to the Magistrate's Court before 8 PM.

The Court of Appeal ordered the CID not to execute the warrant issued by the Fort Magistrate for Fernando's arrest, until that time.

The Court of Appeal also directed the Fort Magistrate not to issue any order against Johnston Fernando until the Court of Appeal gives its final verdict on the writ petition filed by Johnston Fernando. 

Colombo Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage on Wednesday (8) a  issued warrant for the arrest of former Minister Johnston Fernando in connection to the attacks on MynaGoGama and GotaGoGama in Colpetty and Galle Face.

The Magistrate made this order pursuant to a request made by the Additional Solicitor General Ayesha Jinasena, who pointed out that suspect Johnston Fernando was currently avoiding his residential addresses.
