COLOMBO (News 1st); Five people were killed and 11 others were injured in road accidents during the last 24 hours ending at 8.30 AM today (5).

The accidents occurred in Vavuniya, Jaffna, Kawarakkulama, Ratnapura and Kuliyapitiya Police divisions.

A 26-year-old motorcyclist was killed when his lorry collided with a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction in the Thandikulam area on the Vavuniya-Jaffna road.

Moreover, Police stated that a motorcyclist was hit by a van while overtaking a lorry at Dandagamuwa, Kuliyapitiya and died on admission to the Kuliyapitiya Hospital.

A van collided with a parked bus in the Galkulama area in Kawarakkulama due to an inability to control the speed, and a person traveling in the van was killed and 9 others were injured in the accident.

Two persons have been killed in road accidents in Ratnapura and Kuliyapitiya as well.
