Current crisis is an opportunity to transform economy: CBSL Governor

COLOMBO (News 1st); The newly-appointed Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe says that the current situation should be used as an opportunity to transition into an export-dependent economy.

In a tweet from CBSL, the Governor said that assistance from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is only a temporary solution to the economic crisis Sri Lankans are currently facing.

"We should strive to use this crisis as an opportunity to transition from an import dependent economy to an export oriented economy to embark on a higher growth path and to ensure a better life for all of us," he stated.
