Political party secretaries summoned to elections commission

COLOMBO (News 1st); The secretaries of all political parties have been summoned to the Election Commission.

Commissioner General of Elections Saman Sri Ratnayake said that a meeting will be held on the 6th of June at the Elections Commission.

He said that the party Secretaries will be briefed on the proposals made by the Elections Commission to the Select Committee of Parliament to identify appropriate reforms of the election laws and the electoral system and to recommend necessary amendments.

The purpose of the meeting is to obtain the necessary support from political parties to expedite the resolutions.

In addition, the party secretaries will be briefed on the current state of the 2022 electoral reform process.
