COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka’s Yupun Abeykoon broke the 100m South Asia record clocking 10.06 (-0.2) at the International Athletics Meeting Anhalt 2022 in Germany.
He achieved this feat after beating Ferdinand Omanyala, the fastest man in the world so far in 2022 in the 100m track event.
Abeykoon had a better finishing kick, recovering in the final 40m of the race to beat Omanyala with his long strides.
Kenyan sprint sensation Ferdinand Omanyala came second, losing his first 100m race of the year.
