COLOMBO (News 1st); The Kuliyapitiya Magistrate’s Court ordered the release of 35 students of the University College of Kuliyapitiya, on bail, who were arrested for ragging another student.

Bail was set at Rs. 100,000/- as a personal bail for each of the suspects.

In addition, the Court ordered the suspects to refrain from intimidating the aggrieved party and warned that if such intimidation is reported, all suspects will be remanded.

It was reported that a first-year student of the University College of Kuliyapitiya had opposed ragging and a dispute had been ongoing, and thus as a result he was assaulted.

In addition, the warden of the dormitory where the victim was residing was also assaulted, and he was hospitalized for his injuries.

The Kuliyapitiya Police is conducting further investigations regarding the incident.
