COLOMBO (News 1st); The Leader of the Opposition, Sajith Premadasa says that he has rejected the post of the Prime Minister 71 times.

Pointing out that he has rejected the post of Prime Minister 71 times, the Opposition Leader said that even today he rejected the post of Prime Minister to ensure that the people’s struggle in this country is won by the people without betrayal.

Speaking further, Opposition Leader Premadasa requested the people to not to ask him to become the Chief Security Officer in charge of the Rajapaksa family or their caretaker. 

However, he stated that he is ready to abolish the Executive Presidency in accordance with principles, enforce the 19th amendment and reject the 20th amendment, and that he is ready to fulfill that duty by giving the people of this country the human rights, economic rights and right to life they need through good governance.

“We are ready for a new political culture and a new political journey that respects moral principles. However, we would never betray the people,” he added.
