STF arrests man with USD 50,000

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Special Task Force (STF) of Police have arrested a man with USD 50,000 in Welikada area.

A team of officers on the instructions of STF Commanding Officer Waruna Jayasundara and OIC Chief Inspector Nadeeka Silva were patrolling the first floor of the Welikada Plaza building in Welikada Police Division at 7 PM on a tip off received by STF intelligence officers.

Accordingly, a 36-year-old resident of Aluthmawatha, Colombo 15 was arrested during a search and found in possession of US $ 50,000.

He was arrested on suspicion of violating the law under the Money Laundering Act for failing to prove how he came into the possession of US $ 50,000 and was handed over to the Welikada Police for further investigations.
