COLOMBO (News 1st); The Ceylon Petroleum Private Tanker Owners’ Association requests for safety arrangements be made available during the transportation of fuel.
Shantha Silva, the Co-Secretary of the Ceylon Petroleum Private Tanker Owners Association, stated that during the past week, tanker drivers in some areas have experienced great distress while refueling.
Accordingly, the association has written to the IGP requesting full security for fuel tankers, noting that they will be compelled to suspend operations given the inconveniences caused to them.
Consumers will face great inconvenience in obtaining this fuel in the future, Silva warned citing the present situation, adding that if the tankers do not operate it will cause even bigger issues in transporting fuel to filling stations in the future.
