Main suspect in death of former MP arrested

The main suspect in the death of former Polonnaruwa District Parliamentarian Amarakeerthi Athukorala and his bodyguard in the unrest that took place in Nittambuwa on the 9th has been arrested.

The arrest was made by the Criminal Investigations Department in the Nittambuwa area on Friday (20) morning.

The suspect is a 29 year old bus driver residing in Nittambuwa.

The CID is conducting further investigations.
