COLOMBO (News 1st); The Department of Meteorology announced that the South-west monsoon will be expected to establish over the island by tomorrow (19).

Further, it says that showers or thundershowers will occur at times in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Northwestern, and Southern Provinces.

Showers above 75mm will occur at some places in Sabaragamuwa Province and Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle, and Matara districts.

Several spells of showers can occur in Northern Province and the Anuradhapura district.

Strong Winds of about 40-50 kmph can be expected on the Western slope of central hills, Northern, Northcentral and Northwestern Provinces, and in Hambantota and Trincomalee districts.
