People will be deprived of transport from next week: Ashok Abeysinghe

COLOMBO (News 1st); Samagi Jana Balawegaya Parliamentarian Ashok Abeysinghe says that the people of the country will be deprived of transport facilities for about a week due to the fuel shortage.

Speaking to media, the SJB member said that fuel worth US$ 500 million under the Indian Credit Line have been depleted, as the last fuel tanker arrived last week, and no ships have been ordered for the month of June.

He further stated that today, there is less than 5,000 metric tons of petrol is left in Sri Lanka while the same amount of diesel is left.

” In this situation, the people of the country will be deprived of transport facilities for about a week due to the lack of gas. Urban population will have to suffer a lot,” he stated.
