COLOMBO (News 1st); The Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka had spoken to the Times of India that he would continue to support Sri Lanka in obtaining essential commodities, including fuel.
He also stated that the total financial assistance to Sri Lanka has been extended to US $ 3.5 billion.
The High Commissioner has stated that India has responded to Sri Lanka’s requests, and will be assisting on two essential areas; foreign exchange assistance and facilities for the importation of essential commodities.
Pointing out that India has also deferred loans of up to US $ 2 billion to the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, the High Commissioner said that India has granted two different credit lines so that Sri Lanka can obtain fuel, medicine and food. Accordingly, India’s full support has been extended to US $ 3.5 billion, he added.
