COLOMBO (News 1st); The Air Force Headquarters says that the Air Force is ready to face any disaster situation which could arise due to heavy rains.

Air Force Spokesperson, Group Captain Dushan Wijesinghe stated that the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sudharshana Pathirana has instructed to deploy aircrafts and related personnel to provide relief and rescue operations in the event of a disaster.

According to the National Building Research Organization, 6 Districts (Kaluthara, Kandy, Kegalle, Matara, Ratnapura and Nuwara Eliya) are at risk of floods and landslides.

Accordingly, Sri Lanka Air Force aircraft and helicopters have been deployed at Ratmalana, Katunayake, Hingurakgoda and Anuradhapura Air Force Bases in the event of such a disaster.

Moreover, Wijesinghe added that Special Forces have also been deployed for rescue operations.
