Security of MPs tightened; 6 personnel attached to each MP

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Police Headquarters has instructed the Director of the Ministerial Security Division to deploy additional police officers for the security of Members of Parliament.

Accordingly, 4 additional officers have been deployed per each MP, with a maximum of 

6 police officers attached to each member of parliament.

In addition, the Police Headquarters has also instructed to provide two T-56 rifles each to security detail for the protection of the Members of Parliament.

Steps were taken to tighten the security of Parliamentarians after the unrest which took place on 9th May.
