Nearly 90 arrested in connection with 9th May events: Police

COLOMBO (News 1st); Police Media Spokesman Nihal Thalduwa states that nearly 90 persons have been arrested in connection with the violence that took place island wide on 9th May.

He stated that 75 persons had been arrested as of yesterday (13).

The Police Media Spokesman stated that these suspects have been arrested from various parts of the country, and they include 15 suspects from Negombo and 17 suspects from Polonnaruwa.

He mentioned that 09 suspects from Gampaha and 04 suspects from Anuradhapura were also arrested today in connection with the same incident.

Meanwhile, the Police Media Spokesperson added that nearly 100 people have been arrested for instigating acts of violence through social media networks.
