COLOMBO (News 1st); The No-Confidence Motion against the President will be taken up for a debate in Parliament on 17th May, stated Parliamentarian M.A. Sumanthiran.

He stated this speaking to media after the Party Leaders met today at the Parliament complex under the Chairmanship of Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena.

Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena said that the proposal submitted by the party leaders will be prepared and handed over to the President.

The proposals, including the formation of a stable government and the security of the members of parliament will be handed over to the President.

Parliamentarian M.A. Sumanthiran also emphasized that a stable Government is necessary for the country to move forward, and while a stipulated time duration has not been given for the resignation of the President, action must be taken soon with regard to the appointment of a Prime Minister.

Parliamentarian Mano Ganeshan added that no one should suddenly intervene and take up the position of the Prime Minister, and the President must respect the repeated calls for his resignation by the people.
