COLOMBO (News 1st); The IGP and the Army Commander have been summoned to the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka (HRCSL) on Wednesday (11).
An announcement was made by the Chairperson of the Commission, Rohini Marasinghe, Supreme Court Judge (Rtd.) saying that she had been summoned to appear before the Commission at 10 AM on Wednesday (11).
A statement issued by the Chairperson of the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka says that the relevant officials will be questioned regarding the failure to provide adequate security to the people and their homes and to ensure the rule of law.
She said the due process should always be followed and all those responsible for the violence should be arrested and further investigations should be carried out.
Meanwhile, the head of the intelligence service, Major General Suresh Salley has been summoned before the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka on Thursday (12) to inquire into reasons for the imposition of a state of emergency in the country.
