COLOMBO (News 1st); Ranjith Siyambalapitiya was re-elected as the Deputy Speaker of Parliament on Thursday (5).

Ranjith Siyambalapitiya received 148 votes, while Imthiaz Bakeer Marker received only 65 votes.

The ruling faction proposed the name of MP Ranjith Siyambalapitiya, the former deputy speaker of Parliament.

However, the opposition proposed the name of MP Imthiaz Bakeer Marker for the post of Deputy Speaker of Parliament.
