Thermal & Hydro power generation increased

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) has instructed the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) to increase thermal and hydropower generation due to the breakdown in the Norochcholai Power Plant.

The PUCSL has issued the instructions in order to maintain the present 3 hours and 20 minutes daily power cut without any increase.

A 270 MW generator at the Norochcholai power plant suffered a breakdown on Tuesday (3).

Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera stated that it will take another five days to restore the generator.
